The City of Moorpark's Recreation Division operates a variety of recreation programs that include youth and adult sports, special interest classes, day camps, and community events. We have part-time, 10-15 hours per week, year-round positions available as Recreation Leader II; hours vary per position and include evening, weekend, and occasionally holiday hours. Â Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Â

Knowledge of
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Recreation Leader II: Â No less than 900 hours experience working in sports programs, day camps, recreation centers, schools, or related work experience; possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license and first aid/CPR certificate; and equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.Â
Working Conditions: Â Indoor and outdoor recreational facilities; exposure to outside atmospheric conditions; may work in or around water and slippery surfaces; exposure to audio/video equipment and computer screens. Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sifting, standing or walking for prolonged periods of time; travel to various locations; medium lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling; balancing; reaching; handling; use of fingers; talking; hearing; near acuity.

- Organize, lead, and promote interest in recreational programs and activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, day camp activities, recreational classes, and events.
- Officiate games and keep score for sports leagues.
- Assist with administrative tasks including processing program registrations and facility reservations; maintain attendance and registration records; create and maintain program files.
- Monitor facilities and activities of users; unlock, lock, and secure facilities as required.
- Make recommendations to improve equipment and facilities.
Knowledge of
- Fundamental rules and regulations governing a variety of recreational programs and activities.Â
