The City of Morgan Hill is seeking a student intern to support the Environmental Services Division. The intern must have interest, experience, and/or education in environmental topics related to the environment. This position is in-person located at Morgan Hill City Hall/Council Chambers at 17575 Peak Ave. Commitment of 12 hours – 34 hours per week. Hours are flexible so long as they are completed Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Candidates may be asked to work occasional weekends and occasional weekday evenings to aid with public outreach events. Interns will work with people of all ages in both indoor and outdoor settings. The rate for the position is between $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:

Prior to appointment, a background check must be completed, which involves fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice.
The internship will primarily support the City of Morgan Hill’s Stormwater Program which is guided by the provisions of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Permit. The internship may also support other environmental programs (e.g., climate action, clean energy, solid waste management, water conservation, etc.). Primary projects may include:
- Inspection and compliance tracking.
- Database upkeep.
- Mapping in ArcGIS.
- Site visits to collect data, engage with businesses/residents, and/or complete inspections.
- Inspect creeks for illegal dumping and pull water samples from suspect ponding.
- Collect/track post-construction stormwater facility inspection reports, input testing data, and track completion of maintenance needs.
- Collect/track inspection reports and correspondence with construction site operators.
- Support implementation of the public outreach program, including design, creation, and distribution of outreach materials, posting to social media sites, outreach to community groups, and help with occasional evening/weekend public outreach events.
- Other duties as assigned.
