Basic Function
Under the direction of the Water Reclamation Conveyance Supervisor, or Senior Operator, performs a variety of duties in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Water Reclamation Conveyance System. This position works as part of a team of Conveyance Operators to ensure efficient and safe wastewater treatment including compliance with the current National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
The conveyance of wastewater is a vital service to the community and as such requires the availability of City personnel at all times. Employees will be required to respond to emergency calls, accept periodic overtime assignments, and perform any and all duties deemed necessary by the City.
Distinguishing CharacteristicsApprentice
This is an entry-level position in the Wastewater Conveyance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Wastewater Conveyance Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series. Since this class is certified at the Wastewater Conveyance Operator I level, employees may have limited knowledge of conveyance systems.
Journey
Employees within this class are distinguished from the Wastewater Conveyance Operator I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Senior
Operators are more technically advanced and may serve in a lead capacity in their specific area or in other interdepartmental specialties as assigned or designated as the Substitute Operator in Charge as required by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ). Lead responsibilities include training, and providing general direction in day to day assignments.
