Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the employee is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as a representative of Surf ‘n Slide Water Park, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, cash register operations, answering questions and safeguarding company assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment.
• Answer customers' questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
• Greet customers entering establishments.
• Communicate customer requests to management.
• Accurately and efficiently operate registers.
• Accurately maintain all cash and at the registers.
• Accept reservations in ActiveNet for picnic shelters and rentals.
• Process season pass applications and create season passes.
• Maintain an awareness of all prices, promotions and advertisements.
• Request information for using paging systems.
• Compile data for the zip code survey.
• Assists with monthly inventory of all merchandise and equipment.
• Assists with maintenance standards to present a desirable image.
• Maintain an orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked.
• Stock shelves, displays and returns misplaced items to shelves.
• Performs general cleaning duties.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge of the functions of a cash register and calculator or ability to learn.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to interact with general public in a manner consistent with providing high quality customer service.
• Ability to enforce regulations in a fair, impartial and polite manner.
• Ability to deal with staff and public in a professional, team oriented manner.
• Ability to anticipate and prevent accidents.

• Ability to work cooperatively with others.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Recreation Supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature of the propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include City and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretations.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

• The work consists of related customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
• The purpose of this position is to receipt money and perform customer service by communicating to and educating the public in the professional manner. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
• The work schedule for this position includes early mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.

CONTACTS

• Contacts are typically with co-workers, other City employees, and members of the general public.
• Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, and alert the public of safety precautions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This work is performed while sitting or standing for extended periods of time in exposure to heat indoors and outdoors.
• The employee may occasionally lift light and heavy objects weighing fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders, walking up and down stairs, kneeling or crouching, and reaching overhead and above shoulders.
• Hearing, speaking, reading and writing to communicate information.
• Seeing to monitor activities
• This position requires exposure to cleaning materials.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous cashier experience highly desirable.
• All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check process which includes reference checks and criminal history checks, or other.
