What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Finance Director position at City of Mount Airy?
The City of Mount Airy is a seeking motivated self-starter join our Finance Department as the Assistant Finance Director. This candidate will assist the Finance Director in planning, organizing and administering all aspects of the Finance Department. This position directs the accounting and collections functions including the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, grant funds, cash management and utility billing and collection. This position provides significant financial support in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets and the City Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) preparation. Work is performed in accordance with established City finance procedures, local ordinances, North Carolina General Statutes and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations. Interested applicants should have a high measure of financial expertise and experience with municipality/governmental finance preferred. Starting salary for this position is $66,885 and is commensurate based on experience.
Qualifications Include:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and considerable experience in financial administration, accounting, cash management, investments and grant administration including supervisory experience. CPA certification is preferred.
