Facility Care Specialist II
Part-time – Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $16.22- $21.11/hr DOQ
Performs specialty and routine maintenance, housekeeping and custodial work involving the care and maintenance of municipal buildings/facilities. Work procedures are specific and duties are performed on a scheduled day-to-day basis.
Essential Duties:
- Vacuums carpets.
- Shampoos carpets.
- Sweeps and mops floors.
- Strips and waxes floors.
- Dusts and polishes furniture.
- Washes windows and woodwork.
- Cleans bathroom toilets and sinks.
- Replaces paper supplies and soap in restrooms.
- Empties waste baskets.
- Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, platforms, podiums, etc. for meetings.
- Moves office furniture and equipment.
- Locks and unlocks buildings/facilities.
- Changes light bulbs.
- Does small repair jobs.
- Does small plumbing repairs.
- Delivers supplies.
- Driving of City vehicles (a valid driver’s license is required).
- Performs related functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of specialty and routine custodial tools and equipment.
- Ability to carry out both written and oral assignments with minimum instructions.
- Requires walking short distances, frequent standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs., carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs., good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination, good eyesight, working periodically in adverse conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- One year of experience in custodial or facility maintenance work.
- General knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
Essential Physical Skills:
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections).
- Acceptable hearing (with or with hearing aid).
- Able to lift and or carry weights of thirty pounds repetitively.
- Sitting, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing.
- Walking or standing for periods of time.
- Able to exert up to thirty pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of custodial tools and equipment such as mops, brooms, brushes, vacuums, and any other equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of specialty floor maintenance equipment.
Environmental Conditions:
- Works inside in an office environment.
- Works out of doors.
