Plant Maintenance and Telemetry Supervisor
Utilities
Full-time – Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $27.15/hr - $32.58/hr. (DOQ)
Performs supervisory work in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating maintenance work pertaining to the City’s Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants and the Telemetry System for the Plants and the Collection and Re-use Distribution System.
Essential Duties:
- Plans, organizes, implements and assists activities and special projects pertaining to the repair and maintenance of the City’s Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants and Telemetry systems.
- Supervises and directs maintenance tasks and support in coordination of Utility Treatment Plant Manager to maintain plant compliance.
- Monitors and inspects all work in progress.
- Inspects and interprets gauges, digital multimeters, meters, control panels and electrical switch gears.
- Estimates labor, time and material.
- Modifies or adjusts work methods and assignments.
- Plans and implements on the job training for plant amintenance employees.
- Enforces departmental policies, rules and City regulations.
- Performs employee evaluations, and determines if follow up evaluations and or discipline is required.
- Read, interpret and make sketches, electrical and piping diagrams and blue prints.
- Determines the need for preventative maintenance and equipment repair and supervises the repairs.
- Assists and cooperates with contractors as well as other departments.
- Orders all departmental supplies, equipment and tools necessary to accomplish tasks.
- Works on call on nights and weekends as required.
- Helps perform electrical maintenance and or repair for the Collection’s division.
- Clean trucks, PM Sheds and work sites as required.
- Driving of City Vehicles (A valid Florida Driver’s License is required)
- Performs all other related functions as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Position required a skilled Journeyman’s level of electrical work with the knowledge of motors, pumps, control panels, switch gears, transfer switches, Gen-sets and knowledge of their 120-480 control circuits.
- Position required the ability to maintain, trouble shoot and repair telemetry system components, chlorine analyzers, turbidity meters, flow meters and all other critical Plant monitoring equipment.
- Position required the ability to perform all preventative maintenance tasks at the specific plant.
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices and equipment used in electrical construction, repair and maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Knowledge of the construction, repair and maintenance of various utility facilities.
- The ability to work from sketches, maps and blue prints.
- Ability to plan, organize, assist and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to make estimates of time and materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when required.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Perform related work as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Licensed as a minimum of a Journeyman Electrician.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience in electrical, water plant, wastewater plant, collections system and telemetry system maintenance.
- Possession of valid Florida driver’s license required. Must possess a valid Florida commercial drivers Class B license (CDL), or must obtain one within eighteen (18) months of employment.
- Basic knowledge of computers and programs.
- An equivelent combination of education and experience may qualify.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
Essential Physical Skills:
- Ability to talk by means of spoken words.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections).
- Acceptable hearing (with or with hearing aid).
- Able to lift and /and or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
- Sitting most of the time.
- Walking or standing for periods of time.
- Able to exert up to five pound of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines and equipment including tools and testing equipment, hand and power tools and equipment, trucks, motors, generator sets, pumps, valves, gauges, tractors, mowers, backhoe, track hoe, bob cat skid steer loader, bulldozer, grader, ditch witch trencher, pneumatic tools and compressors.
