Skilled Trades Worker - Tree Maintenance
Public Works Department
Full-time, Non-exempt
Pay Range: $18.11/hr - $21.73/hr DOQ
To provide the City with an aesthetically pleasing tree program. This is manual work involving tree trimming and/or tree removal, required some knowledge acquired through training or work experience. General supervision received in accordance with specific instructions and defined procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Assists in the maintenance, care, removal and planting of trees and any related duties assigned.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment.
- Makes sure all equipment is operated safely and is in a safe operating condition.
- Deals with the public daily and frequently deals with other department employees.
- Driver trucks and operates chainsaws and other small hand tools.
- Is crossed trained somewhat to fill in for any position for short terms.
- A lot of the job is removal of debris and general clean-up.
- Subject to be called back for emergency work.
- Cleaning of all equipment.
- Performs related functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED required.
- Some basic knowledge of the use and care of tools used in the Forestry Division s Operation.
- Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver s License class B or higher.
- A comparable amount of education and/or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period
