Location: City of Mountain Home
Department: Planning & Engineering

Overview:
The City of Mountain Home is seeking a dedicated Building Official to oversee daily activities within the Building Inspection role. This position involves compliance consultation with builders and architects and thorough inspections of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:.

  • Ensure compliance with building, housing, and zoning codes.
  • Review blueprints for commercial and residential projects.
  • Conduct inspections and enforce safety regulations.
  • Engage in code enforcement and attend relevant meetings with the Council, Planning Commission, Variance Board and other local and State meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare proposals for changing or amending local ordinances related to building codes.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of building construction requirements and relevant laws with five years of related experience or service.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and use of inspection tools.
  • Strong management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with the completion of a high school degree or equivalent and the completion of a variety of state and local required certificates in courses of study related to the occupational field.
  • Should be certified as a Building Official.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.42 - $26.70 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
