Position Description: The Asset Management Specialist is responsible for data collection, tracking, mapping, and related tasks to identify risks associated with sewer, water, streets, & stormwater assets to ensure their safety and reliability. This role involves managing, updating, and maintaining data through asset management software and overseeing CCTV inspection activities.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyze and update mapped asset data for Public Works programs related to surface water, stormwater, drinking water, and sewer, in compliance with NPDES Phase II Municipal Stormwater permit regulations.
- Collaborate on design / implementation of infrastructure asset data management systems, including data collection methodologies, procedures, and decision-making frameworks.
- Conduct comprehensive asset risk evaluations and prioritize repair / replacement projects for the City’s capital budget.
- Coordinate sewer and stormwater condition assessments through CCTV data collection with Public Works field crews.
- Field-verifiy asset conditions and integrates data / photos into GIS systems.
- Identify asset failure trends and recommend preventive measures.
- Research and compile asset performance data for further analysis.
- Collaborate with the City’s GIS Specialist to maintain & update GIS data to ensure asset data reconciliation for Engineering, Public Works, and other City departments.
- Engage in technical discussions with various staff members (primarily in Engineering and Public Works Departments) to improve asset management strategies.
- Support asset management best practices that align with the City’s GIS standards.
- Contribute data accuracy & completeness through QA/QC of existing GIS databases.
- Write SOPs for technical and non-technical coworkers and provide training as needed related to asset management and GIS.
- Occasionally perform additional tasks to manage workload balance and operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in ArcGIS, knowledge of QGIS (desirable), Excel, AutoCAD, and other GIS-related software.
- Ability to streamline processes using scripting languages, e.g. Python, VBA, etc.
- Knowledge of asset management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of public works operation and maintenance procedures including but not limited to streets and utility infrastructure.
- Ability to research, evaluate and integrate new and existing technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the asset management program.
- Ability to stay up to date with asset management concepts, principles, and practices.
Qualifications and Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with two (2) years of college or technical school coursework in geography, engineering, earth science, or related field with specific GIS technology training using ArcGIS software; OR
- Any combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required.

- Uneven ground surfaces, exposure to adverse weather conditions, machinery noise, and other hazards inherent to construction sites.
Supervision Received: General supervision from the Utility Engineer or designee.

Schedule and Compensation: This position is scheduled to report to work between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday- Friday. Flex schedules are possible. This full-time position is exempt and non-represented with an annual salary of $94,132.75 to $115,713.19.
