DESCRIPTION
This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
The purpose of this position is to conduct technical and skilled work in the installation, modification, operation, maintenance and repair of machinery, mechanical and electrical devices, and maintenance of structures throughout the water or sewer system.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business.
- Maintains a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for creating, reviewing, assigning and closing work orders, inventory, and labor for the maintenance history of plant equipment and associated distribution.
- Conducts maintenance addressing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment in the Water Department.
- Conducts installation, maintenance, repair servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment, components, machinery and facilities in plants, pumping stations, storage tanks, and distribution or collection system.
- Assesses wear and condition of electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment and components and makes recommendations to their supervisor regarding repair or replacement.
- Monitors status of various equipment makes adjustments and repairs as needed; reports equipment status and condition to supervisor.
- Conducts maintenance on HVAC units as needed.
- Monitors the main pump station at the sewer plant and lift stations; conducts maintenance as necessary.
- Performs repairs to maintenance of structures at the water treatment plant and in the distribution or collection system.
- Reviews the operation of equipment and systems continually to minimize unplanned down time, anticipates and solves problems in a timely manner, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Maintains inventory of parts and equipment; makes recommendations for purchases or replacements.
- Performs other work as assigned.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
