Custodian (part-time)

Salary: $17.40 – $19.63/hour

Description:

Under supervision, on a part-time basis, performs semi-skilled and manual labor work activities in the maintenance and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of buildings; may operate equipment assigned to Division; assists other Divisions/Departments as requested; performs related work as required.

Essential Duties:

• Clean and sanitize all restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe desks, counters, and other furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum all floors; empty/clean wastebaskets, shredders, recycling bins, and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
• Clean lobby windows (inside and out).
• Clean all entry doors to the lobby.
• Use and maintain vacuums, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemical and supplies; use ladder when required in work assignments.
• Clean, strip, wax linoleum floors on an annual basis.
• Clean out overhead lighting fixtures of bus and debris.
• Clean all kitchens and empty trash. (Each department responsible for dirty dishes).
• Clean, wipe down handrails, and sweep/mop stairwells.
• Maintain the outside perimeter of the building by emptying cigarette containers, removing trash and items from sidewalk, parking lot, and lawn.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED).

Supplemental Information:

Instructions are initially very specific, but becoming more general with work experience in the class.

Processes are initially confined to standard operating procedures.

: Most or all of completed work is spot-checked.

Problems require analysis based on precedent.

Work is performed mainly indoors, with limited outdoor work, requiring intermittent standing, walking, stooping, bending, ability to see, speak, hear; must have use of arms, hands with normal dexterity and be able to grip, and grasp. Must be able to see, hear, speak, and comprehend. Must lift objects over 50lbs; must operate equipment; exposed to machinery and its moving parts; required to use stairs and ladders; exposed to fumes, chemicals and toxic substances as a requirement of the job.

Must operates equipment assigned to the Division, must use all tools assigned to the Division after receiving proper training.
