internship. Duties include both office and field work (in all weather conditions). The hours are Monday - Friday (7 am - 3:30 pm), mid-May
to mid-August. This position is an excellent opportunity to network with municipal Engineers, water utility professionals, and related
contractors and to learn and work for a very progressive organization.
- Work primarily in the field observing the construction of large-scale projects.
- Aid in the drafting of drawings (using AutoCAD) and their upgrades.
- Collect data using GPS equipment for the upgrade and maintenance of city GIS systems
- Supervise construction performed by contractors
- Other duties as assigned
- Candidate must be currently enrolled in a college-accredited curriculum in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- A basic understanding of engineering concepts and materials, including concrete and asphalt (training will be provided.)
- Experience with AutoCAD and GIS is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; and experience with Word and Excel.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a valid State of Illinois Class D Driver's License. Applicants should possess a driving history with no moving violations for at least the last twelve (12) months.
