General Description Of Duties
The purpose of this classification is to provide routine and complex support for hardware, software, and networking functions of the City's information services. Employees in this classification perform installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of computer networks, hardware, software applications, and related peripherals.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT
Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees may be subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

- Performs duties related to network administration and support; designs, installs, configures, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN), servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, security cameras, license plate readers, and related network infrastructure components. Implements and maintains network security protocols.
- Provides advanced technical support and coverage to maintain City departments including Police, Fire, and 911 Dispatch.
- Researches, obtains quotes, orders parts, materials, components, supplies, equipment, hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Provides technical support for computer networks, hardware, and software, including troubleshooting and training;. Coordinates with end users to resolve system, peripherals and application issues.
- Develops and maintains specific hardware, software, system, inventory and licensing configurations; researches and evaluates new software and hardware for cost efficency and effectiveness. Evaluates, implements and maintains network and system security procedures for end users.
- Repairs, replaces, supports, and maintains citywide computer hardware and peripherals/ . Sets up and configures new work stations and maintains inventory records for new and retired systems. Supports, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains City Council Chamber’s hardware including multi-media equipment, projectors, document cameras, lectern PCs, and related technology.
- Installs, configures, updates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains Granicus Online Video servers and applications. Provides scheduling and training support for Granicus online videos.Creates and designs templates, schedules events for upcoming meetings and boards, and manages Granicus media vault and encoder hardware/software,
- Provides input into the City's website and intranet; troubleshoots, repairs and maintains internet connectivity.
- Manages assigned helpdesk tickets, ensuring clear and detailed documentation to assist customers and IT team members in understanding the work performed.
- Develops and maintains hardware, software, and systems documentation and procedures.
- Assists the Technology Services management in preparation and submission for purchase requisitions and bids.
- Evaluates, installs, and maintains systems security procedures and software; includes virus protection procedures.
- Initiates and monitors end-user and network backup procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and developments in network information systems technology for application to departmental functions.
- As a small Information Technology department, we back each other up. Being in this position may require collaborating with, or covering for, other Information Technology team members, regardless of formal position.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Network Services, Computer Science, Network Administration or closely related field
- Supplemented by three (3) years experience in computer network administration, technology, and security; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
