GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The purpose of the position is to perform installation, repair, and maintenance work in construction and maintenance of the City's Stormwater system. Employees in this classification have previous experience in utilities installation, repair and maintenance, and function as part of work crew in accomplishing assigned tasks.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT
Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees may be subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee1s official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Works with utilities crews in installation, repair and maintenance of various Stormwater assets as directed, using assigned equipment such as winch cranes, trucks, tractors.
- Conduct routine inspections on City Stormwater assets such as pump stations, lake weirs, and rain gauges.
- Performs manual excavation duties, i.e., digging tunnels, channels, work space.
- Ensures the safe operating conditions per work site, i.e., setting barricades, cones, and signs; monitoring and directing traffic.
- Restores/maintains work sites, i.e., resurfacing roadways; compacting fill; sod, soil and plant restoration.
- Performs pre-inspection and post inspection on all vehicles, equipment, and/or machinery operated; maintains inspection log.
- Operates a variety of small equipment such as jack hammers, concrete saws, chain saws, compactors, concrete sprayers.
- Uses a variety of hand held tools and equipment applicable to assigned work area, i.e., shovels, rakes, trowels, manual and skill saws, brooms, pipe cutters.
- Observes safe and proper operating procedures when operating trucks, equipment, machinery, and/or tools, in accordance with established and prescribed standards.
- Performs routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of assigned trucks, equipment, machinery, and/or tools to maintain safe and proper operating condition.
- Paints identification marks on meter boxes, valve boxes, pipes, roads, and curbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED;
- Possession of a valid Florida driver license, class "B" standards with airbrakes and tanker endorsement or be able to obtain within 6 (six) months of hire; and possession and maintenance of a driving record which meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
OTHER:
The City of Naples is a Tobacco-Free Workplace.
