What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Clearance Worker position at City of Napoleon?
SUMMARY
The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist with tree trimming tasks. The position is responsible for assisting with trimming of trees and brush, chipping up and removing of debris, and removal and disposal of trees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by this position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
- Assists with trimming and pruning of trees and other vegetation around power lines as required.
- Chips up and removes tree and brush debris from the job site.
- Assist with cutting trees and brush in order to maintain clear right-of-ways for energized lines.
- Assists with maintenance/minor repairs of equipment, such as greasing chipper, washing trucks, or sharpening and adjusting saws.
- Assists with traffic control around work sites as needed to insure that other crew members can safely perform assigned work and that customers/public are not endangered.
- Respond positively to the majority of after hours emergency overtime requests and reports for these requests in a reasonable time.
- Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some knowledge of the methods and safety precautions used in the care, trimming and removal of trees and shrubbery.
- Ability to perform physical work sometimes under adverse and dangerous conditions.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D..
- Must have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in tree trimming.
- Must be a certified line clearance arborist under ACRT Urban Forestry training or similar program or ability to obtain such a certification in 24 months.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
REASONING ABILITY:
- Uses sound judgment when making decisions related to crew work assignments, safe work practices and procedures and customers/general public.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
- Must possess and maintain and Class B CDL license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires very heavy work involving exerting over 50 pounds of force on a regular basis.
- Must be able to withstand outside work in extreme conditions.
- The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job is performed on and off-site City limits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.46 - $29.52 per hour
