- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration or a related field and (2) years of disaster and emergency planning experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses IS-700, IS-800, IS-2200, IS-100, IS-200 ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-247, IS-251, and IS-1300 are optional but preferred
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
- Ability to create and maintain accurate, detailed records and files.
- Strong and proficient in the use and application of computer-based information, spreadsheet, word processing and related office management applications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, elected officials, vendors and the public.
- Must possess strong analytical skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical and sensitive information verbally and in writing.
- Considerable knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Emergency Management director, this position ensures the community knows its vulnerabilities, hazards, and threats; plans for any emergencies; responds in a timely and effective manner in any emergency; and conducts emergency operations. This position acts as internal/external liaison for the City's disaster recovery efforts, overseeing training, exercises, and developing public awareness communication programs are critical areas of responsibility. Responsible for coordinating the various components of the emergency management system and incorporating the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery in order to effectively respond to all situations that may occur. This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is a grade 14, with a salary dependent upon experience.
