What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian / Part Time position at City of Natchez?
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Custodian will ensure that the building and grounds of the Senior Citizen Center are kept clean and to promote a safe environment.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Under the general supervision of the Support Commander, the building Custodian performs a variety of job functions within the police department. The individual will work directly for the Natchez Senior Citizen Center , and will be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the building and grounds using materials such as soaps, chemicals, waxes and the use of various machinery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises personnel under his or her direction in the day-to-day activities.
- Must be able to follow directions and perform work assignments with limited supervision.
- Must be knowledgeable of safety regulations regarding the mixture of harsh chemicals and compounds.
- Must be able to operate basic machinery used to assist in cleaning floors and outside grounds.
- Must be knowledgeable of how to make basic repairs when needed.
- Must be proficient with the operation of lawn care equipment.
- Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of the Center
OTHER DUTIES:
- Verifies work done by outside contractors for completeness.
- Maintains a high level of integrity, honesty, professionalism and confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid state issued driver’s license
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $9.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
