THE JOB:
Under supervision, to perform a variety of routine clerical and office duties; and perform related duties as required.
PART-TIME POSITIONS: Appointments to part-time positions are paid on an hourly basis, do not receive benefits and work up to 19 hours per week.
Sorts and distributes departmental mail and office supplies; sorts and files materials alphabetically, numerically, or by other predetermined system; answers telephone calls and furnishes routine information requested or by referring to appropriate source; looks up information and materials in files; records information and/or duplicates materials; performs routine data posting and records maintenance work according to detailed, standardized procedures; assists the public by furnishing routine factual information, issuing standard forms, or directing them to appropriate person or office; operates simple office machines.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN: Modern office practices, procedures, and methods; recordkeeping methods; correct English usage, spelling, and punctuation.
ABILITY TO: Communicate effectively; make arithmetic calculations; employ some independent judgment and make sound decisions in accordance with established procedures; establish and maintain effective working relations with all levels of staff, elected officials, and the general public.
