Position Overview:
The City of Neenah is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Construction Inspector/Engineering Aide 1. The Public Works Construction Inspector/Engineering Aide 1 is responsible for ensuring that public infrastructure construction and maintenance projects comply with established plans, specifications, and standards. This role includes field inspections, assisting with surveys, preparing and maintaining construction plans and records, locating utilities, and addressing public concerns. The position reports to the Director of Public Works and works under the general direction of Civil Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect public infrastructure projects (sewers, roadways, sidewalks) and monitor contractor compliance with plans, permits, and contracts. Address issues and maintain schedules.
• Conduct site surveys using GPS, collect data, install stakes, and prepare construction/as-built plans using CAD. Update GIS utility records.
• Locate city-owned utilities, respond to public inquiries, provide technical advice, and resolve complaints about construction and maintenance.
• Maintain records, digitize paper files, link data to GIS databases, and perform vehicle and building upkeep (e.g., snow removal, lawn care).

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Two years of experience in public works construction, civil engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Other: Valid driver's license.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $45,006 - $53,800.50, depending on experience.
  • Salary range reflects base to midpoint of the pay scale. Offers above midpoint require Council approval.
