What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Fitness Instructor position at City of New Berlin?
Under the direction of the New Berlin Recreation Department, responsible for leading a group of participants through a series of movements and adapted exercises set to music while inspiring and motivating them to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Works under the direction of the Recreation Department
- Plans, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates a weekly Fitness class accompanied by appropriate music for the participants
- Ensures the safety of class participants by adhering to Departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains class records in regards to attendance, accidents, and incident reports
- Provides on-site leadership on the actual class dates
- Works in coordination with the Recreation Department to establish a budget sheet and proposed expenditure document
- Assists with the set-up and clean-up of the activity room and any other spaces that will be utilized to facilitate activities
- Positively communicates with the participants and encourages them to improve their health and fitness related behaviors
- Maintains consistent and courteous communication with Supervisors within the Recreation Department
- Duties as assigned
- High School Diploma
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Must have previous experience instructing group exercise and fitness/wellness programs
- Available to work fluctuating hours and specifically the dates/times agreed upon with the Recreation Department and Supervisor
- Ability to make well-informed decisions in time-sensitive situations
- Knowledge of appropriate teaching techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors within the Recreation Department
