Performs responsible semi-skilled and technical work in conducting aquatic safety, lifesaving and first aid techniques; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Head Lifeguard.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Observing, maintaining, enforcing and supervising aquatic center swimming, activities and program rules.(The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Monitors activities in aquatic center; Performs lifesaving rescues, renders first aid and CPR/lifesaving techniques as necessary, calls 911 and coordinates with Emergency Medical Services; Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of pool and surrounding areas; Monitors pool chemical levels and reports problems; Enforces rules and regulations, policies and procedures; Registers participants; Supervises conduct of participants; Performs related tasks as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum age of 15. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent) and First Aid/CPR/AED. A Lifeguard Certification/Recertification class will be offered in-house. The date of the class is TBD.CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE REQUIRED ON FINAL INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CANDIDATE(S) APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION WITH THE CITY OF NEW BERN.THE CITY OF NEW BERN IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
