What we're looking for : A motivated and collaborative individual to join the City of New Braunfels Information Technology department. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the configuration, implementation and maintenance of various technologies managed by the Information Technology Department. This person will focus on the administration of the City's Active Directory infrastructure, Microsoft services and server-based operating systems and applications, as well as assess and identify appropriate solutions to be integrated into the City's various systems and make recommendations for implementation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Develops, maintains, manages and updates server software.Develops, maintains, manages and updates procedures for all server and application backups.Creates virtual machines in support of integration and or expansion.Provides support and development for server-based applications used throughout the City.Develops, maintains, managed and updates the City's hybrid infrastructure including, but not limited to active directory, group policy, PKI, DHCP, and DNS.Administers and manages antivirus solution.Installs and manages SSL certificates across City systems.Perform maintenance, administration and support of the city's email systems.Monitors, plans and coordinates the distribution of client / server software and service packs.Provides tier-2 and 3 support of computers and other systems to diagnose, identify, and resolve problems for more complex issues; documents identified incidents / problems and records the resolution.Preserves confidentiality of any sensitive information.Evaluates new technology, assesses compatibility with existing equipment and operating systems, and recommends purchase options and integration strategies.Provides excellent customer service by responding to the needs and inquiries of users; solving problems, explaining issues, deploying solutions, and following up with users to assure the functionality of the users' systems.Must be able to communicate effectively in the description and resolution of associated problems.Defines and maintain data sets and their standards.Must be able to function effectively as a Dispatch Application Administrator and become certified on the licensed program within one year. Must observe the operation, security, and data-control procedures set forth in the user's manual included with the Dispatch system.Administer all aspects of the in-car and body worn camera systems.Maintain system security policies and procedures.Maintain a detailed system administration log to document major changes and / or events.Participates and functions effectively in a team environment.Exhibits a positive and courteous relationship with City staff and general public.Performs other duties as assigned or required.Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field; and three (3) years server and database administration experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a strong knowledge of VMware with experience in design, configuration and deployment.Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and have the ability to comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards.
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Current Microsoft Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.Dispatch Application Administration certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.Knowledge, Skills and Other Requirements

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment and involves sitting, standing, walking, and bending for extended periods of time.
