- Create, maintain, update, and extend department data sets such as stormwater, facilities, projects, complete streets, and other data sets as assigned.
- Create, maintain, update, and extend dashboards, analyses, reports, and other data products as assigned to communicate information internally and externally gleaned from department or other data sets.
- Use GIS systems to visualize and convey information about city functions, projects, and activities. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create, maintain, update, analyze, and report on cross-project management, time allocation, resource allocation, and project schedules relating to infrastructure projects.
- Create, maintain, update, and publish public outreach materials including through web and social media platforms.
- May attend occasional public meetings in support of Department projects and initiatives.
- As the subject matter expert, provides training and guidance to the Department in the technical areas related to geospacial analysis.
- As directed by the Department, responds to natural disasters and public emergencies with related technical support.
- May visit and survey related projects in the field.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the City Engineer or designee.
- Thorough knowledge data management practices, including the creation, maintenance, updating, and extension of data sets common in engineering practice.
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated ability of data presentation techniques (visual, oral, written, and dynamic) including dashboards, presentations, maps, fact sheets, web sites, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze a variety of data problems, to make recommendations for their solution, and to put recommendations into effect.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in particular their role in engineering workflows and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, particularly technical experts, to organize, analyze, and track project data, particularly schedule data.
- Ability to carry out brief general instructions of superiors effectively, and to supervise projects and studies.
- Considerable skill in the use of data analysis, visualization, presentation, mapping, and communication software.
- Ability to present facts and express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing including the ability to create effective communication materials for the public.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines on short notice, and work an occasional evening or weekend day.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, other city officials, and the general public.
- Other computer literacy skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and ability to learn multiple web-based applications.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
This is a General Fund, "Tested" position.
This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Local 3144, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

General Funded hires into this class are not covered by Social Security and will not pay Social Security taxes. They instead participate in the City Pension; the employee contribution rate is 10% of pay.Applications will be reviewed by the Department of Human Resources.
