Job Summary:
Responsibilities include supervision of assigned staff, sports equipment management, financial management, management of lease/license agreements, coordination with agencies, and marketing. Assist director of Pepperplex with coordination of Recreational Sports and events held at the New Iberia Pepperplex. Required to be available and respond to emergency on call situations 24 hours a day.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
1. Assist in the scheduling of tournaments & rental reservations at New Iberia Pepperplex.
2. Direct and supervise assigned staff.
3. Schedule, confirm, and manage umpires, referees, scorekeepers, etc.
4. Working some evenings and weekends.
5. Assist in the purchasing of materials and equipment. Assist other departments as needed.
6. Develop a working knowledge of the day to day needs of baseball, softball, football, and soccer leagues and tournaments.
7. Assist in coordinating with other departments and agencies for special events.
8. All other duties related to the coordination of sports as directed by the Mayor and Pepperplex Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge of practices, procedures and techniques related to sports fields and turf maintenance.
· Public relation skills and the ability to foster relationships with leagues and partnerships.
· Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to assist in implementing safety plans for staff and facility patrons.
· Ability to effectively lead and instruct assigned staff in the accomplishment of duties.
· Ability to enforce appropriate laws, policies, and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
Machines, Tools, and Equipment and Work Aids:
· Computer and related software, vehicle, and grounds carts.
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
· Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years related experience to include supervisory experience as well.
· Possession of a valid LA Driver’s License.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Duties are generally performed at the Pepperplex in both indoor and outdoor settings. This is medium work requiring up to (10) pounds of force constantly to move, lift, and push objects. Work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
Special Requirements:
· Requires 24-hour on-call availability to include weekends, nights, holidays, before, during and after adverse weather conditions and emergency situations, as needed.
