Summary of Job

The primary function of this job will be to safely operate a small utility vehicle on City streets for daily watering of flowers / plants, followed by general landscaping maintenance of City grounds and flower beds.

This seasonal position will typically work on average 30 hours per week from May through October with some rotating weekend hours. Starting pay is $15.50 per hour.

Position will remain open for applications until it is filled.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plant, water, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants on City property
Maintain and weed around landscaped areas
Make landscaping recommendations for improvements around City parks and facilities

Additional duties as assigned :

Maintain safety in the parks and around all City owned properties

Maintain beautification of parks and other City owned properties by performing refuse pickup, lawn care and landscaping

Perform preventative maintenance inspections on park vehicles and small equipment

Initiate safe work practices

Attend required meetings and training sessions

Communicate with local groups and school district regarding activities

Assist with special event setup

Qualifications, Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be 18 years of age or older

Valid WI Driver's license

1-3 years of experience in related field, preferred

Knowledge of hand tools, riding lawn mower, gas powered trimmers, and blower

Ability to work weekends / holidays if necessary

Training and / or certifications in gardening or landscaping, preferred
