What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Softball Umpire/Scorekeeper position at City of New London, WI?
Summary of Job
Maintains order and rules of Adult Softball in compliance with New London Parks and Recreation Rules under the Supervision of the Recreation Coordinator. Officiates to the WIAA standards and is familiar with rules and equipment regulations of games.
Umpiring starting wage is $13.00 per hour, based on years of experience and certifications.
Scorekeeping wage is $9.75 per hour.
Position will work 3-10 hours per week, including nights/weekends.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares field for games by placing out bases and raking if necessary.
- Officiate league and tournament games.
- Communicates effectively with participants, co-workers, supervisor and concession staff.
- Maintains control of the game and the participants effectively at all times.
- Participates in meetings as requested by the Recreation Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate scores in scorebook and on electronic board.
- Other duties as may be directed by the Recreation Coordinator.
Qualifications, Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- WIAA or Softball ASA certification is highly preferred
Education, Experience, Licenses, Additional Info
- Experience in Adult Slow Pitch Softball
- Ability to be assertive and handle conflict when situations arise in a calm manner.
- First Aid and CPR is highly preferred, or ability to obtain it
