Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial buildings at various stages of construction.
- Analyze blueprints and schematics to ensure compliance with design specifications and building codes.
- Perform quality inspections on materials and workmanship to verify adherence to standards.
- Review contracts and documentation related to construction projects for accuracy and completeness.
- Collect research data on building practices, materials, and code changes to inform inspection processes.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to address any compliance issues or concerns.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining findings, recommendations, and required corrective actions.
- Stay updated on local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Building Inspector (Entry-Level)- Two (2) years (60 semester hours) of university or trade school training in an architecture, engineering, or construction technology curriculum from an accredited college or university* and one (1) year of full-time experience in architecture or building construction involving inspection, drafting, designing or building
- OR: A Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, historic preservation, or construction technology from an accredited college or university.*
- OR: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university* and an active certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Building Inspector.*
