The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.3 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Appeals Bureau of the Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking two Appeals Specialists (TPA 3) to assist with post-conviction litigation, including direct appeals, motion responses, and federal writs of habeas corpus.
Job Responsibilities
Drafting motion responses and simple appellate briefs under the supervision of an Assistant District Attorney
Providing litigation support to Assistant District Attorneys
Maintain Appeals Bureau Moot Court schedule
Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree preferred or a High School diploma/GED and prior work experience in a law firm, governmental agency, civic or community organization.
Prior Legal Experience Preferred But Not Required
Two-three years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
Some Law School preferred.
Basic proficiency in writing and research
Familiarity With Westlaw Or Lexis Preferred But Not Required
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Discretion and integrity to work on highly confidential investigations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with general court services and functions.

- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
