What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Engineer position at City of New York?
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of highquality drinking water managing wastewater and stormwater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city.
Under supervision of the Section Manager of the Office of Green Infrastructure and Cloudburst (GI) Design and Construction Assistant Project Engineer responsibilities include contract plan review soil subsurface analyzation review of geotechnical reports and asbuilts for green infrastructure citywide. Work will also include conducting desktop and site assessments to determine locations of green infrastructure pre during and post construction site visits performing various testing of GI assets and ensure contract progress quality safety workmanship and conformance with contract documents NYC Standards and applicable codes.
Typical responsibilities of the Assistant Project Engineer will include :
Perform field inspections for Green Infrastructure and prepare and submit reports to the Project Engineer Section Manager Deputy Director and Director.
Perform desktop analysis using AutoCAD and / or ArcGIS software to analyze tributary areas and contract area boundaries for Green Infrastructure.
Perform field visits during design and geotechnical investigations.
Review geotechnical reports contract plans and asbuilts.
Coordinate with Project Managers regarding contract progress.
Perform inspection audits to measure contractors performance during construction of green infrastructure projects.
Perform enforcement of compliance with the DEP sewer use regulations.
CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN 20202
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
