Only candidates who are currently probable permanent in the Civil Engineering Intern title or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #9036 or #2009) or those who filed for the, Open-Competitive Exam #5047 may apply. Please include a copy of your Receipt of Filing or indicate if you are already probable permanent in the title. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.
The Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure is seeking Junior Engineers for multiple roles within the Design Unit. Successful candidates will be provided with hands-on training and will contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions. Additionally, candidates will carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-in-Charge. The scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and participating in design-related site inspections.
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees for visa applications, extensions or status changes, including STEM/OPT visas. 1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
