Summer Teen Intern
The Newberg Public Library is pleased to be accepting applications for a summer teen intern. This paid position is made possible through the State Library of Oregon via the Ready to Read Grant. This internship provides the opportunity to learn the day-to-day operations of a public library, coordinate a summer volunteer program, and participate in programming and other library work. This 120-hour, $17 per hour internship opportunity runs from mid-May through mid-August, offers up to $2,040 for the summer, and is open to high school teens 16 .

Duties for this job will include:
- Coordinating summer reading volunteer program: helping to check in volunteers for shifts, keeping summer reading logs stocked, answering questions, filling in occasional volunteer shifts, and helping library staff with Summer Reading projects
- Helping library staff prepare for and deliver scheduled library programming
- Assisting library patrons with questions and other customer-service duties
Requirements:
- Must be able to work mid-May through mid-August
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must be 16 or older by start date
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Library computer system; personal computer, electronic reference resources; various types of audio/visual equipment, standard library and office equipment and a variety of communication devices.
