The Recreation & Senior Services Department is hiring for the positions of Pool Swim Instructor Trainee, Pool Swim Instructor, and Senior Pool Lifeguard. This is an exciting job opportunity to work outdoors with an exceptional team of people!
- Application Evaluation - Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review of applications on February 5, 2025. Qualified applicants will be invited to a virtual interview.
- Virtual Interview - Tentatively scheduled for February 10, 2025. Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list.
Successful candidates may be selected for the Pool Swim Instructor Training Academy where they will receive City-sponsored training toward obtaining certification as an American Red Cross certified Pool Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). American Red Cross Lifeguarding and WSI courses each consists of an online component and 2 days of on-site skill assessment and instruction. Upon completion of the certification trainings, candidates then must attend mandatory in-service training.
Training Dates:
- Certification training will be scheduled upon hire. Certifications must be completed by May 26, 2025.

Pool Swim Instructor Trainee hourly salary: $16.50
Pool Swim Instructor hourly salary: $17.71- $22.60
Senior Pool Lifeguard hourly salary: $21.73 - $27.80
