GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, this position serves as lead worker in performing complex skilled work in the
repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of electrical systems and equipment in pumping
stations. Reports to the Operations Superintendent – Pump Stations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Troubleshoots, repairs and installs generator and motor controls, generator transfer switches, lights,
receptacles, vent fans and related electrical equipment. Serves as a lead worker and assist with staff
training.
Performs routine preventative maintenance of electrical systems associated with pump stations,
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and alarm systems. Reads and interprets blueprints.
Obtains permits for Wastewater electrical projects.
Operates assigned service vehicle, multi-meters, meggers, power and hammer drills, power saws, PVC
heaters and portable generators.
Collects data for preventive maintenance system; maintains activity logs and completes work orders and
reports as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Electrical – Knowledge of electrical wiring systems, controls, machinery electronic and pneumatic
electrical systems. Knowledge of the National Electrical Codes.
- Equipment Operation – Thorough knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting
equipment. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the operation of equipment and
materials.

- Safety - Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to
precautions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma and 5-7 years related experience in the electrical or electronics field, or
an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a valid State of Virginia Master
Electrician’s License.
Graduation from a recognized apprenticeship program may substitute for up to one year of experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires satisfactory results from a pre-employment medical evaluation.
Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Must successfully complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident
Command System Certifications within one year of employment.
The job is considered Essential Personnel and will be required to work during and following natural
disasters and emergency situations.
Must provide and maintain a full set of hand tools and locking toolbox.
