The City of Newport is seeking a School Resource Officer (Lateral)
The School Resource Officer (SRO) is responsible for providing a safe and secure learning environment within the Newport School District. The SRO will work to foster positive relationships between students, faculty, and law enforcement, while also serving as a law enforcement officer, educator, and counselor. The SRO will assist in preventing and responding to school-related incidents, enforce laws, and promote conflict resolution, safety awareness, and crime prevention strategies.
Employee will be assigned to the regular posted school schedule of the Newport School District and will have holidays and weekends off during the school year. Employee may be required to work after hours school activities and functions. Employee may be assigned to rotating shifts and may work other than a normal work week during the Newport School District’s scheduled summer break.
