TITLE:Lead Parking Attendant
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Public Works/ Parking Ramps
NUMBER OF VACANCIES: Numerous
PAY RANGE:$18.00 per hour
(With longevity increments when applicable)
ELIGIBILITY: All permanent City hourly employees. Preference will be given to employees in the Department of Parks & Public Works Street Cleaning.
NOTE: This position may require shift work including afternoons and weekends and overtime as needed.
**Must be a resident of Niagara Falls, NY within 6 months of appointment**
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
This part time year round, or full-time seasonal (May 15-September 15) position involves direct oversight of the operations at City-owned parking ramps and/or surface parking lots and meters, including ticket booth, monitoring, and meter collection activities. The incumbent performs tasks necessary to ensure that established procedures are followed by assigned employees. Responsibilities include visual inspection and security of all parking operations, including performing ticket booth relief. The work may involve shift work. General supervision is received from the Director or Deputy Director of Public Works or other assigned supervisor. The Lead Parking Attendant performs related work as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Good knowledge of parking ramp and lot rules, regulations, fees and activities; working knowledge of business arithmetic; ability to make visual inspections of facility; ability to handle and count money accurately; ability to lead and perform parking related activities; ability to give clear and concise directions; tact and courtesy in dealing with the general public; honesty and reliability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.
