Experience Required: Professional experience in media production and photography, including shooting and editing, emphasizing storytelling and, social media marketing. Drone experience is a plus.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent;Bachelors in video production, film, journalism, or another communication field, preferred.
Licenses: Must posses and maintain a valid State of Missouri driver's license
Direct Supervisor: Director of Communications
Primary Work Location: Office Setting, outdoor events when needed.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, performs media production tasks and social media management for the City of Nixa. The Multimedia Specialist will work 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday, subject to supervisor’s approval. Occasional weekend work required. This position will focus on creating videos for the City of Nixa, including storyboarding, shooting, and editing content for social media and Nixa.com, while managing all social networking sites. Other tasks include city photography and helping with city marketing campaigns and internal communication strategy.
Tasks and duties may include but are not limited to:
· Video shooting and editing.
· Still photography and photo editing, including employee photos, events and project tracking.
· Posting to the City’s official social media accounts focusing on marketing and strategy.
· Build and execute marketing campaigns.
· Assisting with website content using a content management system.
· Partner with various city departments and local organizations for video project creation.
· Coordinating with departments for appointments and meetings for video and photoshoots, including setting up lighting, arranging sets and directing subjects, as assigned.
· Help plan and organize city events to ensure editorial and marketing success.
· Attend city-sponsored events as the official videographer/photographer, including but not limited to city council meetings, Sucker Days, Multicultural Festival, Spooktacular, Coco with the Community, National Night Out, and the Mayors Tree Lighting.
· Assist with internal and external city newsletters.
· Collaborate with communications team for internal strategies.
· Operates city vehicles or personal vehicles for transportation to events and meetings.
· Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of Communication while actively embodying the City’s Mission and organizational culture.
Essential Functions, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) for Employment

Knowledge
· Digital photography and editing (skill in using a DSLR camera is a plus)
· Video production, shooting, editing skills, and knowledge of various editing software.
· Using a variety of social media platforms with an understanding of appropriate
use of social media for official communications with a focus on video content.
o Dynamic storytelling for quick clips as well as more detailed publications.
Skills
· Strong written, oral communication and relational skills.
· Extended use of computers, tablets, cameras, and other electronic equipment.
· Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff, elected officials, and members of the public.
· Ability to learn and adapt as media is always changing.
· Ability to work and stay on deadline.
· Graphic design, a plus.
Abilities
· Coordinated use of sight, hearing, speech, arms, legs, and hands simultaneously.
· Adapt to changing physical locations.
· Stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds and lifting three feet above the head; pushing and pulling 100 pounds.
· Holds and grips objects in various positions with periods of prolonged standing. Reaching both ground level and overhead.
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
· Must have reliable transportation to and from Nixa City Hall for scheduled workdays, occasional short notice, and some weekends.
· Must be willing to work indoors and outside. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dust, and/or pollen. May be exposed to noise and large crowds during City events. Subject to other safety hazards associated with Police, Parks, and Public Works Departments.
· Problem-solving and making decisions under pressure in the areas of responsibility.
· Read and understand written instructions and communicate information and ideas in clear and concise written form.
· Requires the ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds, and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks such as setting color for cameras, editing video and audio, and camera operation.
