What are the responsibilities and job description for the WASTEWATER CHEMICAL TECHNICIAN position at City of Norfolk, Nebraska?

Under the direction of the Wastewater Plant Superintendent, this position runs tests on the Wastewater Treatment Plant operations; conducts sampling activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform required tests stipulated on Discharge Permit;
- Perform operation control tests; * Collect process samples, maintains lab equipment and inventory;
- Read industry raw water meters;
- Review test results and computer calculations and makes control changes to activated sludge process and SBR process;
- Perform routine cleaning of equipment and work area;
- Perform NH3 and TKN tests on Industries and plant influent and effluent; * Perform random testing of overland septic waste samples;
- Perform e-coli tests on effluent City’s effluent as well as other towns during the summer testing periods;
- Perform monthly testing for several local towns;
- Run EPA DMRQA testing once a year for quality control; * Perform other duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of & Ability to: * Thorough knowledge of workings of the Wastewater Plant; * Ability to perform and read tests as needed; * Must be able to use DO meters, microscope, pipets, spectrophotometer, COD meter, water baths, pH meters, centrifuge, and other related equipment

Pay: $4,538.00 - $6,224.00 per month
