The City of Norfolks Department of Human Services (NDHS) provides a wide range of essential services to its citizens. These services are crucial in supporting the wellbeing of the community and ensuring that all citizens have access to the resources they need. NDHS is committed to providing such comprehensive support to its citizens.
The Finance Unit within Administrations and Operations plays a pivotal role in the functioning of NDHS. This division is seeking to hire an Accounting Technician III, part of the Program for Improving Capacity and Capability (PICC). This incumbent provides day-to-day accounting services required by the PICC program.
Departmental Hiring Salary Range : $41,503.00- $47,728.45
Essential Functions
Education / Experience
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with one / two years of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
Four years' experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
Additional Information & Requirements
Preferences : Minimum of an Associate's Degree with at least one year of bookkeeping / grant management experience.
Work Schedule : 40 hours a week, Monday- Friday 8 : 30AM- 5PM. This position is considered a Special Project with Retirement; this position does not start as a permanent role with the City of Norfolk.
Signing Bonus : This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
