Description
The City of Norfolk's Department of Libraries is currently seeking a Library Associate I. This position assists with the daily operations of the library. Acts as an assistant to the supervisor. Provides customer service to patrons by developing and delivering age-appropriate programs and readers' advisory. Promotes the general use of facilities and assists patrons in the use of collection and computers.

Education / Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
One year of experience in library or related services.

Working hours : 40 hours / week; some evenings and weekends may be required.
Signing Bonus : This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for new hires
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
