Battleship Crew Member (Maritime Center Specialist II)

The City of Norfolk, Maritime Center – Nauticus is seeking to hire a Battleship Crew Member. The Battleship Crew manages operations, develops and offers Guest guided tours and information, schedules, assigns, and evaluates volunteers.

Nauticus is a maritime discovery center located along the waterfront in downtown, Norfolk offering a unique form of experiential learning for all ages. Through interactive exhibits and STEM to STERN programming, Nauticus uses the museum, Battleship Wisconsin, sailing center, and Schooner Virginia to tell the story of the maritime environment, industry, and the military.

• Develop and offer guests guided tours and information
• Schedule, assign, and evaluate volunteers
• Effectively join peers and volunteers in a team environment with the ability to make strong decisions in a fast-paced guest centered environment

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

Preferred candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent in science, history, museum studies, or related field.

Work Hours: Weekdays and weekends, varied schedule 20 hours per week.
