The Home-Based Childcare Network (HCN) of the NDHS is a unit responsible for monitoring the compliance of an intensive training and licensure process for individuals seeking to provide childcare in their home. This unit also specializes in initiatives relative to early childhood development and education.The HCN is seeking to hire a Family Services Worker II, who will play a crucial role with assisting childcare providers through the licensing process to operate a Family Day Home. This position involves educating childcare professionals on monitoring the safety and well-being of children, best practices for early childhood development and education, operational responsibilities and business practices. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of childcare practices, effective communication skills, and an ability to enforce city code.
- Recruits, trains and approves licensed home-based childcare providers.
- Provides monitoring and feedback to home-based childcare providers to ensure successful completion of all requirements.
- Approves emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Conducts home inspections
- Conducts zoning reviews to assist with determining childcare capacity.
- Maintains case records and prepares written reports.
- Makes referrals for services by being knowledgeable of local services and resources
- Works closely with multiple city and private partners to collaborate for all facets of the program.
- Coordinating and attending related meetings
- Facilitate trainings and workshops
- Trains staff and partners on program specifics.
- Coordinating program functions
- Effective communication both orally and in writing.
- Requires the ability to climb stairs, bend, push, pull and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Requires organization and time management skills
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field and minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia). Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
Two (2) years experience in social services.
- Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and build rapport with childcare providers
Proficient in using technology and data management systems.
Salary : $50,624 - $82,557
