The City of Norfolk’s Department of General Services is seeking a qualified Senior Plumber to perform and supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems and fixtures within city buildings and respond to plumbing emergencies. The Senior Plumber will work directly with the Maintenance Supervisor to assist with the daily operations of the Plumbing Shop.Essential functions include but are not limited to:

The City of Norfolk’s Department of General Services is seeking a qualified Senior Plumber to perform and supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems and fixtures within city buildings and respond to plumbing emergencies. The Senior Plumber will work directly with the Maintenance Supervisor to assist with the daily operations of the Plumbing Shop.Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Installs, maintains, and repairs:
- Water and drainage systems
- Plumbing fixtures
- Ice Machines
- Faucets
- Pool drains
- Sump pumps
- Back flows
- Garbage disposals
- Corroded or defective pipes
- Drain line cleanout using machine to clear debris
- Tests Backflow prevention devices
- Winterizes all outdoor facilities by draining unheated water lines and removing backflow preventers
- Preps all outdoor facilities back to operational condition in warm months
- Roughs in new fixtures and waterlines for repairs or renovation projects
- Responds to plumbing emergencies and takes corrective action
- Assigns work orders
- Prioritizes work
- Schedules personnel
- Monitors outstanding work orders
- Allocates resources following the City’s procurement process
- Four years of experience as a Journey Level Plumber.
- Four years of experience as a Master Plumber.
- Experience in a supervisory or lead plumber role.
- Valid Driver's License. A DMV transcript dated within 30 days will be required if selected for hire.
- Tradesman License.
- State Master Plumber's License.
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Occasional overtime
- Rotation as needed
- This position is designated as Essential and may be required to report to work during City closures due to inclement weather and other emergencies.
Salary : $46,589 - $53,577
