The City of Norfolk Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking an intermittent part-time Recreation Aide responsible for providing assistance with the planning and implementation of programs including sports competitions, senior recreation, fitness, skate park, therapeutic recreation, and special events.

Department Hiring Rate: $15.00/hour
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Provides oversight and direction of program participants and volunteers, monitors events, programs, participants, and spectators.
- Performs administrative duties including answering phones, responding to patrons, completing forms, setting up and breaking down necessary equipment, etc.
- Maintains facility order and cleanliness.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance.
- This position requires excellent inter-personal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to effectively interact with and contribute to the growth and development of diverse citizen groups.
- Ability to see, hear, stand/walk for extended periods of time, lift from ground to above shoulder, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and utilize telephone communications
Some experience working in a customer service setting or experience working with children/youth in a recreation, athletics, fitness, aquatics, education setting preferred.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification is preferred.
This position requires excellent inter-personal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to effectively interact with and contribute to the growth and development of diverse citizen groups.

- A Valid Driver’s License.
- CPR,AED, and First Aid within 6mos
Work Hours: Monday to Saturday; 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.; not to exceed 19.5 hours per week; flexible hours will apply including weekends, holidays, and special events.
Salary : $15
