Installs, constructs and maintains equipment essential to the traffic signal system. Installs and repairs school lights and flashing lights and maintains cables. Responds to after hour calls as needed. Works with the emergency storm response teams.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Work requires the ability to read ordinances, maps, work orders, and blueprints. It also requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Applicant will be required to create/fill out work orders.Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Maintains traffic signal lighting by installing, constructing and performing maintenance on traffic signals, installing and repairing manholes, performing maintenance on flashing beacons, school zone lighting and city wide signal lights, repairing damage due to accidents, relocating cables, and checking and repairing all loops while using a variety of tools and equipment.
- Responds to service calls by diagnosing the problems and replacing components damaged by vehicles or storms.
- Responsible for marking signal and IT infrastructure for Miss Utility. May require On-Call rotation for after hour calls.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
One year experience in electronics/electrical or traffic related work preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
Work Schedule: 7:00 am – 3:30PM (Monday – Friday) 40hrs/wk.
Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for new hires. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
