A Senior Pretreatment Inspector is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!
This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Utilities department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $27.71. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 4:30pm at our Utilities and Traffic Operations Field Services at 2829 Fort Sumter Dr., NLV, NV 89030.
- Environment – The worker is subject to environmental conditions: activities occur inside and outside; the worker is subject to hazards: including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surfaces.
THE ROLE
The Sr. Treatment Inspector enforces the City’s Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program with the federal Clean Water Act by completing the highest-level inspections. Operates video camera and vacuum truck for the inspection and evaluation of wastewater collection system. Collects samples and performs various tests, surveys, and observations of water, wastewater, industrial waste, and by-products of the water, and wastewater treatment process; determines their components; prepares reports of the results of these tests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and an associate’s degree in environmental safety and health and two years as a Pretreatment Inspector II with the City of North Las Vegas.
- Equivalency: Five (5) years of paid full time progressively responsible field water or wastewater treatment, including two (2) years conducting complex wastewater inspections for a pretreatment program may be substituted for the education and experience listed above.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess and maintenance of Nevada Water Pollution Control Association certification as an Industrial Waste Inspector II at time of application, transfer, reclassification, or promotion.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada State Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License, and may require special endorsements; e.g., air brakes, tanker, hazardous materials at the time of application, transfer, reclassification, or promotion; or the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada driver’s license within the state’s required time frame.
- Must possess and maintain Barricading Certification, IMSA Work Zone Safety or Traffic Control Certificate at time of application, transfer, reclassification, or promotion.
SELECTION PROCESS

2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
3. Written Exam (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%): Test will measure knowledge in pretreatment water operations.
4. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%)
5. Pre-Employment Screening –Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete
6. Selection/Offers!
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
