Salary : $17.00 HourlyLocation : Laman Library, North Little RockJob Type : Full TimeJob Number : 00030Department : Laman LibraryOpening Date : 01 / 17 / 2025Closing Date : ContinuousGeneral Responsibilities SummaryThe Maintenance Assistant maintains the cleanliness and security of the facilities and performs service and repair maintenance on facility and plumbing, heating, and electrical systems. This is a safety sensitive position.This individual is responsible for general maintenance and presenting library facilities in the best manner possible and may supervise 1-3 employees.Essential FunctionsDutiesMaintaining orderly appearance of the libraryPerforming routine maintenance and service on all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems within the facilitiesPerforming finish maintenance tasks such as plastering, painting, basic carpentry, light construction, and building repairPerforming a variety of cleaning duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, washing or waxing floors and stairs, shampooing rugs, cleaning doors and windows, and dusting Cleaning and maintaining restroomsCollecting and emptying trash, recycling, dumpster loads; monitoring and ensuring that dumpsters are routinely emptied; and delivering kitchen recyclables as neededChanging and replacing light bulbs and ballasts; performing minor electrical repairs; and setting parking lot light timersMoving and rearranging furniture, materials, and equipment as directedSweeping, shoveling snow, de-icing, and salting outdoor walkways and areas in inclement weatherRemoving debris from outside landscaped areas around building, and maintaining or managing lawn care as neededMaintaining exterior ramp and benchesOperating and routinely maintaining a variety of equipment, such as snow blower, weed trimmer, chainsaw, vacuum cleaner, shampooer, and mower equipment / tools Preparing and setting up chairs, tables, AV equipment, and special meeting room needsRoutinely replacing HVAC filters, fuses, belts, monitoring thermostats, breakers, and heat pump resets.Monitoring building systems and providing emergency assistance with vehicles, systems, building issues, etc.Replacing batteries to emergency door push bars, clocks, and video camerasAssembling and repairing equipment and furniture as neededBreaking down boxes, storage containers, packing materials, and recyclesConsulting maintenance manuals, checklists, and equipment upkeep schedulesRaising and lowering flag, banners, posters, decorative items, etc.Performing occasional on-call duty (nights, weekends, holidays) for snow removal or emergenciesPerforming other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classificationMinimum QualificationsExperience and Training High school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of relevant job experience OR at lease twelve years of relevant job experience.Abilities, Skills, and KnowledgeAbility to follow instructions on the labels of chemical suppliesAbility to use hand tools for building repairs, carpentry, and maintenanceAbility to perform a wide variety of physical duties without any difficultiesWorking knowledge of the principles and practices of carpentry, painting, plumbing, and wiring and the operation and use of heating ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC)Depth, color peripheral, and distance vision regularly requiredAbility to regularly and frequently lift up to 40-50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 140 poundsAbility to balance, stoop, kneel, or crouchAbility to climb ladders or roof and tolerate heightsAbility to shovel and remove snowAbility to operate a motor vehicle and equipment and / or tools necessary for the positionAbility to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation Application Requirements To Apply for this Position : Send cover letter and resume to AgencyWilliam F.
