What are the responsibilities and job description for the DEPUTY DIRECTOR, LIBRARY position at City of North Miami Beach?
ADA REQUIREMENTS: Individual’s sensory modalities (vision and hearing) and physical capabilities (ambulation, strength, coordination, dexterity, range of motion) must be sufficient to perform the Essential Functions of the position.
- Supervises the Senior Library Senior Staff, Library Support Staff and manages all library employees. Directs and Manages all library services in the absence of the Library Director.
- Assists in the formulation and execution of annual goals and objectives that support the library’s mission and meet community goals.
- Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budget.
- Effectively communicates general library information and policy to library patrons.
- Provides guidance on long and short-term goal setting, daily operations, and services to the public.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating library policies, procedures, and programs.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates programming for adults.
- Advises the Library Director on policy and procedural issues.
- Advises the Library Director on Survey results and Community needs.
- Designs, develops, and maintains an attractive and informative library website.
- Supervises Library Marketing as necessary
- Participates in Commission, Committee and Stakeholders meetings.
- Advises Library Director of grant opportunities and assists in researching/applying for grants, survey development and grant reporting as needed.
- Participates in professional development opportunities and delivers training to the staff.
- Represents the library at community programs, meetings, and conferences as appropriate.
- Participates in Leadership training at State and National levels.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through personal contact, the use of the telephone and/or other City-issued technology devices. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist under desks and around furniture; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight up to 20 lbs.; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Special Qualifications:
Possession of a valid, State of Florida driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirements exist at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
