Description
Under the direction of the Code Compliance Director, this position will oversee the department's sanitation division. The sanitation division is responsible for providing customer service support to residential and multifamily properties of up to four (4) units. This position will monitor the contractual agreement between the City of North Miami and the private waste hauler to ensure compliance and the rendering of the exclusive solid waste services to residential and commercial properties and contractual obligations to the City of North Miami. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City's clean team.
This is a professional and managerial, exempt level position related to sanitation management within the overall scope of the Code Compliance Department. The employee in this class should have a thorough understanding of issues related to solid waste collection, including household waste, bulk waste, recycling, and contract management.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare the division's operating budget;
- Provide training to sanitation staff as needed;
- Prepare clean team's working schedule and delegating field assignments;
- Prepare written reports on special projects, activities and performance measures;
- Make frequent and consistent field checks to insure that solid waste services are collected in a timely and efficient manner;
- Meet with citizen groups and civic improvement associations to discuss sanitation related services and issues and answer questions from constituents;
- Check sanitation routes for code violations and report violations to the Code Department for inspections;
- Investigate sanitation complaints and arrange for appropriate corrective measures as needed;
- Reviews and ensures completion of solid waste work orders;
- Ensure the City's websites reflects the most up to date information related to solid waste services.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, business or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years experience overseeing waste collection and disposal operations or contract management of sanitation operations; additional directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Language Skills : Fluent in English. Bilingual Preferred.
Physical Requirement : Able to carry 30 pounds.
Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
