Performs all routine building janitorial tasks; does related work as required.
This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of all aspects of building cleaning and maintenance. An employee in this class works under general supervision of routine assignments, receiving specific instructions for new or unusual assignments. The employee's performance and abilities are reviewed and inspected.
- Sweeps and mops floors;
- Vacuums;
- Washes windows, cleans mirrors;
- Polishes furniture, stainless steel fixtures;
- Dusts, discard trash and garbage.
- Cleans windowsills and trash receptacles;
- Cleans, scours and mops restrooms;
- Discard recycling materials.
- Uses all types of cleaning supplies;
- Operates a vehicle (van or pickup);
- Performs work at all assigned City-owned facilities.
- Picks up debris from around the outside of City building;
- Secures all outside gates and locks located on City property;
- Cleans ceiling A/C vents and fluorescent light fixture covers;
- Monitors and reports supply request to supervisor.
- Equipment Used/Job Location: Uses a ladder, step ladder, various hand tools (pliers and screwdrivers)
Graduation from grade school plus some building cleaning experience
OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license.
- Good understanding of janitorial cleaning practices;
- Good knowledge of tracking and ordering supplies;
- Ability to operate all types of floor cleaning equipment;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
- Thoroughness and dependability;
- Physical ability to perform duties.
Salary : $36,593 - $54,889
